Safeguarding & Governance

Safeguarding & Governance

Protecting Rights. Upholding Accountability. Building Trust.

At Remnants Arise Neurodiversity Community-based Organization (RANCO), safeguarding, accountability, and ethical leadership are fundamental to everything we do. We are committed to creating safe, inclusive, and respectful environments where neurodivergent children, young people, caregivers, staff, volunteers, and partners are protected from harm and treated with dignity.

Our governance and safeguarding systems are designed to meet internationally recognized standards, strengthen public trust, and ensure responsible stewardship of the resources entrusted to us.

Our Commitment

RANCO is committed to the highest standards of child safeguarding, accountability, transparency, and ethical conduct across all programmes, partnerships, and operations.

We believe that every child has the right to live free from violence, abuse, neglect, exploitation, and discrimination. Safeguarding is not simply a policyโ€”it is a shared responsibility embedded in our culture, decision-making, and daily practice.

Governance Structure

RANCO operates under the strategic leadership and oversight of a Governing Board comprising Community Leaders, Disability Advocates, and Technical Experts.

The Governing Board provides:

  • Strategic leadership and organizational direction
  • Oversight of governance policies and institutional accountability
  • Financial and operational stewardship
  • Ethical leadership and risk management
  • Child safeguarding oversight
  • Programme quality assurance
  • Compliance with legal and regulatory requirements

The Board works closely with management, staff, communities, and partners to ensure that all programmes reflect RANCO’s mission, values, and commitment to inclusive, rights-based development.

Our Safeguarding Framework

RANCO maintains a comprehensive safeguarding framework designed to protect children, vulnerable adults, caregivers, staff, volunteers, and community members.

Child Safeguarding Policy

We maintain a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of abuse, neglect, exploitation, harmful practices, coercion, or violence, including the chaining or confinement of children.

All staff, volunteers, consultants, and partners are expected to uphold the highest standards of child protection and act immediately when safeguarding concerns arise.

Code of Conduct

Everyone representing RANCO is required to adhere to a comprehensive Code of Conduct that promotes:

  • Respect and dignity for all individuals
  • Professional and ethical behaviour
  • Integrity and accountability
  • Non-discrimination and inclusion
  • Responsible use of organizational resources
  • Safe and appropriate conduct when working with children and vulnerable adults

  • Appropriate disciplinary and referral procedures where required

We foster a culture in which everyone can report concerns safely, without fear of retaliation.

Our approach includes:

  • GBV risk assessments
  • Safe referral pathways

These include:

  • Confidential complaints procedures
  • Community-based reporting channels
  • Safeguarding focal persons
  • Timely investigation and response processes
  • Continuous learning and improvement

We are committed to listening, responding, and acting with fairness, transparency, and respect.
